Minoxidil-d10 is the deuterium-labeled Minoxidil. Minoxidil is an ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channel opener, a potent oral antihypertensive agent and a peripheral vasodilator that promotes vasodilation and also affects hair growth. It is also a potent inhibitor of soybean lipoxygenase with an IC50 of 20 μM. Stable heavy isotopes of hydrogen, carbon, and other elements have been incorporated into drug molecules, largely as tracers for quantitation during the drug development process. Deuteration has gained attention because of its potential to affect the pharmacokinetic and metabolic profiles of drugs.
- Used as a tracer for quantitation during drug development.
- Serves as an internal standard for quantitative analysis by NMR, GC-MS, or LC-MS.
- Affects pharmacokinetic and metabolic profiles of drugs.
